Blank Bingo Cards vs. Pre-Filled Bingo Cards

A blank bingo card or bingo board contains empty squares that you fill with your own words, numbers, pictures or prompts. This makes one printable template suitable for many different subjects, themes and occasions.

A pre-filled bingo card already contains the entries needed for one particular game. These printables are intentionally blank, giving you complete control over the content and allowing you to create a personalized game.

Choose a card with a center star when you want a traditional free space. Use a completely blank board when you want players to fill all 25 squares.

How to Customize Your Blank Bingo Cards

You can personalize the blank squares with words, numbers, pictures or short prompts. Here’s an easy way to create unique cards for multiple players:

1. Choose a theme for your game.
2. Create a list of 24 entries for cards with a center free space, or 25 entries for completely blank cards.
3. Give every player the same list of entries.
4. Have each player arrange the entries in a different order on their card.
5. Write each entry on a separate calling slip.
6. Place the calling slips in a bowl or container for the game host to draw.

Rearranging the same entries creates different cards without requiring an online bingo-card generator.

How to Play Bingo With Blank Cards

Once the cards are customized, playing is simple:

1. Give each player a completed bingo card.
2. Provide buttons, paper squares, pom-poms, coins or other small items to use as markers.
3. Ask the game host to draw one calling slip at a time.
4. Players cover the matching word, number or picture on their cards.
5. Continue until someone covers five squares in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line.
6. The first person to complete the winning pattern calls out “Bingo!”

Before beginning, decide whether the center star is a free space and whether the game will end with five in a row, four corners or a completely covered card.

Printing and Laminating Tips

Download and open the complete PDF before printing. Printing the website preview images will not produce the same quality as printing directly from the PDF.

• Use standard US letter-size paper.
• Select “actual size” or 100% in your printer settings.
• Use the page-number option to print only the designs you want.
• Regular printer paper works well for one-time games.
• Choose cardstock when you want sturdier cards.
• Select the four-to-a-page layout to save paper and ink.
• Print one master card and photocopy it when every player needs the same board.
• Laminate completed cards when you want to reuse them.

Use dry-erase markers on laminated cards so the writing and game marks can be wiped away after each round.
