This cute little penguin craft is great to make with the kids! Easy, inexpensive, and mess-free. They are perfect for any Christmas tree during the Holiday season!

Penguin craft for kids

We've been making lots of Christmas crafts and winter crafts around here! We've been loving some penguin crafts too!

We have another penguin craft included in our printable Christmas crafts!

My kids loved making these! They thought the penguins were so adorable! And these are such an easy craft for kids.

When they were done making them they each gave one a special name and put it on the back.

They loved picking the perfect place to put their new penguin friend on the Christmas tree.

We hope you love this little DIY Christmas ornament as much as we did!

Supplies needed for penguin popsicle stick craft

To make your popsicle stick penguin ornament you'll need the following craft supplies:

  • Plain Popsicle Sticks
  • Paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Brown String or Yarn
  • Glue
  • Glitter Foam Sheets
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon or String
  • Googly Eyes (Or you can use our printable googly eyes)
  • Decorative Ribbon or Fabric

How to make these cute popsicle stick penguin ornaments:

The first step is to start by laying three popsicle sticks flat in a row and glue them together. Before moving to the next step wait for the glue to dry completely, so the popsicle sticks will not move or come apart.

Next paint the popsicle sticks black.

This will be the penguins body.

Make sure to allow the paint to dry all the way.

When the paint is dry wrap the popsicle sticks with black string or yarn.

A little bit of the popsicle sticks at the top and bottom should be shown.

Next cut the glitter foam into the shapes of a belly, feet and a beak.

For the belly cut a semi-circle.

For the feet cut two almost paw print shapes.

Then for the beak cut out a little tiny triangle.

After cutting all of the shapes glue the belly first. Glue the belly towards the bottom of your popsicle sticks and wait for the glue to dry.

After the belly has been glued down, glue on the feet.

The bottom of the feet should be glued where the bottom of the belly is.

The feet should overlap the belly a little bit.

Now glue on the beak.

The beak should be slightly above the belly.

About ¼ away from the top of the popsicle sticks.

Now finally glue the googly eyes above the beak.

Now you have a basic penguin!

Let's make it fancy!

Cut a strip of decorative ribbon or fabric.

Tie it around the popsicle sticks into a bow, slightly below the beak and slightly above the belly.
