Materials Needed
For these snowflakes, all you need is:
- Pipe cleaners
- Scissors
- A ruler
That’s it! You can pick pipe cleaners in any color. We made a white one and a yellow-orange one. But silver pipe cleaners would be fun too, or glittery ones.
For each snowflake, you’ll need 2 or 3 pipe cleaners.
How to Make Pipe Cleaner Snowflakes
To make these snowflakes, grab your pipe cleaners. Then measure and cut 3 pieces about 5 inches long.
Then 6 pieces about 3cm long, and 6 pieces 5cm long.
Grab the 3 longest pieces of pipe cleaner pieces together like shown below.
Twist the 3 pieces together in the middle, twisting tightly 3-4 times.
Now you have a very basic pipe cleaner snowflake shape. But for this craft, this is just our snowflake base.
Make sure to spread out all the points to evenly space them into a star shape.
Then grab one of the 3 cm long pieces of pipe cleaner and place it under one of the arms of the snowflake base near the end.
Now, twist the left side of the small piece to the right side around the snowflake’s arm.
Then twist and coil the right side to the left side to attach it to the snowflake.
Repeat this with all the arms of the snowflake.
Next, grab one of the 5cm long pieces of pipe cleaner and place it on one of the arms of the snowflake, slightly under the piece you just created.
Attach it by twisting it just like you did with the other pieces.
Then repeat the process with the rest of the snowflake arms.
And that’s it. Whip up a few of these and you’ll have a bunch of super cute pipe cleaner snowflake ornaments!
Or decorations, or whatever you want to use them for. If you want, you could also add some cute pony beads for a fun burst of color.
