Scissors: To cut out the house templates.
Glue stick or tape: For assembling the houses once they’re cut and folded.
Crayons, colored pencils, or markers: To color and personalize the houses before assembling.
Cardstock or thicker paper (optional): For sturdier houses, print on heavier paper for easier assembly.

The Printable
The printable includes three winter house designs on three pages. Each page has one flat house template with fold lines and tabs, plus tree or snowman pieces to decorate your scene. The house details include patterned roofs, windows, doors, and snowy accents.

These are black-and-white paper house coloring templates, so children can choose their own colors. Color while the page is flat, then cut and assemble. Print several copies of a favorite design if you want a whole street of matching houses.

Instructions
Print your chosen house: Download the PDF through the signup form below and select the page you want to use. Regular paper works, but cardstock gives the finished house more support.
Color the designs: Use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to add your personal touch to the houses.
Cut around the outside: Cut out the house shape, keeping its glue tabs attached. Leave the interior fold lines uncut. Cut out the separate trees or snowmen, and help younger children with small corners.
Fold before gluing: Crease the marked fold lines between the walls, roof, and tabs. Use a ruler as a straight edge if helpful. Gently bring the pieces together without glue first to see how the house takes shape.
Assemble the house: Fold the tabs inward and apply a small amount of glue. Bring the adjoining edges together so the tabs sit inside the house. Work around the walls, then close the roof, pressing each join until it holds. Let the glue dry before moving the house.
Build your winter scene: Arrange the houses and extra trees or snowmen on a sheet of paper or a cardboard base. Glue the scenery flat, or make small folded paper supports if you want it to stand up.
For more freestanding scenery, our printable Christmas trees roll into cones. Place them beside the houses to make a festive paper village.
Top Tips
- Use cardstock: For a sturdier house that stands up well, print on cardstock.
- Help younger kids with cutting: Little ones may need help with the more detailed cutting.
- Decorate with glitter or stickers: Add some extra flair by decorating the houses with glitter glue or stickers for a festive look.
- Mix and match designs: Feel free to combine elements from each template to create a unique winter village.
Educational Uses
Fine motor skills: Cutting, folding, and gluing help children improve their fine motor coordination.
Creativity: Designing their own houses allows children to engage in creative decision-making.
Shapes and spatial awareness: Compare the flat template with the finished 3D house. Ask children to find rectangles and triangles, then notice which parts become walls and roof panels.
Classroom village: Give each child one house to decorate, then arrange the finished homes into a shared display. Add street names, count the houses, or invite children to tell a story about who lives there.
Printing Tips
Print only the pages you need. Use “Fit to page” if any tabs or edges are clipped, and keep the same print scale for houses you want to display together. Check that your printer supports the cardstock you choose.
Let marker ink and added decorations dry before folding. For a group activity, make one sample house ahead of time and set out separate stations for coloring, cutting, and assembly.
To decorate the space around your village, hang our Christmas wreath craft above the display.
