How to Make a 3D Paper House

- Score the fold lines: Gently run a ruler, bone folder, or the back of a butter knife along the dotted lines. Scoring the paper first helps create cleaner, straighter folds.
- Fold the house and tabs: Fold along every dotted line and crease each fold firmly. Fold the glue tabs inward so they will be hidden inside the finished house.
- Glue the house together: Apply a small amount of glue or double-sided tape to the tabs. Press the adjoining pieces together and hold them briefly while the glue begins to set.
- Build your paper village: Once the houses are dry, arrange them together to create a 3D paper village, holiday display, playset, or classroom project.

Printable Paper House FAQ
Regular printer paper is the easiest option for children to cut and fold. Lightweight cardstock is better when you want sturdier houses that can stand on their own. Very heavy cardstock may be difficult to fold around the smaller tabs.
Cut around the outside edges first, but do not cut the dotted fold lines. Score each dotted line gently with a ruler or bone folder, fold the walls and roof into position, and then fold the glue tabs toward the inside of the house.
The templates are provided as printable PDF files and are primarily designed for printing and cutting by hand. Some cutting-machine software may allow you to convert or import the designs, but machine-ready SVG cutting files are not included.
You can print and cut out a template and then trace it onto lightweight cardstock or thin craft board. Thick corrugated cardboard is not recommended because the small tabs and roof lines will be difficult to fold.
