Paper Plate Sheep (With Free Printable Template)

This cute paper plate sheep is made from construction paper, cotton balls and a paper plate. It’s a cute and easy craft kids will love.

Our template includes two sizes for the sheep head. So next time, I think we’ll grab some mini plates and make a few paper plate lambs to go with the sheep mama.

I think they’d look adorable grouped together in a classroom.

Materials

Paper plate: Any paper plate will work well.

Colored craft paper: Or construction paper. We used black, white and pink.

Cotton: We had some extra cotton batting, but you can use cotton balls too for this craft.

Sheep template: You can grab our free printable sheep template at the bottom of this post.

You’ll also need some basic craft supplies like:

  • Scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil
  • Black marker or pen

How to Make a Paper Plate Sheep

Start by printing out the template and cutting out the pieces onto your colored craft paper. We cut the head and legs from black construction paper. The eyes from white and the cheeks and ears from pink.

Using your black marker, color the pupils of the eyes. Or grab you a set of big googly eyes instead.

Then start assembling the sheep’s face by attaching the eyes to the top part of the sheep’s head.

Then attach the inner ear pieces to the sheep’s ears.

And the pink cheek pieces onto each side of his face.

Next, grab your paper plate and cotton. Loosely pull the cotton apart slightly and cover the entire paper plate with the cotton.

Then glue the sheep’s finished head onto the top of the paper plate like shown below.

Finally, attach his two legs to the bottom part of the plate and you’re cute little sheep is finished!

Tools

Instructions

  1. Print and cut out all the template pieces. Trace onto colored paper, and cut out.
  2. Color in pupils on sheep eyes.
  3. Assemble face by adding eyes, cheecks and ear pieces to sheeps head.
  4. Draw on mouth.
  5. Grab the paper plate and glue down cotton, covering it completely.
  6. Attach head to top half of paper plate.
  7. Attch legs to bottom half.
  8. Enjoy your little sheep.
