Today we have this adorable paper bag monkey puppet craft. It’s a fun and easy way to create a monkey puppet in no time.

Materials

Colored craft paper: We used a few shades of brown plus some pink. Or you could color in the templates using crayons or colored pencils.

Paper bag: And ordinary small lunch sack is what we used.

Monkey craft template: You can grab the free printable at the end of this post.

You’ll also need some craft supplies like

  • Scissors
  • A black marker
  • Craft glue
  • Pencil

How to Make a Monkey Puppet

Start by grabbing and printing out the monkey template. Then pick out a few shades of brown paper along with a bit of pink paper.

Our template includes all the pieces you’ll need to create the monkey including his head and face, the outer and inner ears, his tail, belly, hair and cheeks.

Trace out all the pattern pieces onto the colored paper and cut out.

Next, assemble the ears by attaching the inner ear pieces to the out ear pieces, and attach his hair to the top of his head.

Then glue the ears to the top of the monkey’s head on either side of his hair.

Next, attach the face piece to the center of the head piece.

Then glue on his eyes and blush, like shown below.

Then using a black pen or marker to draw a mouth and nose on the monkey.

Grab you paper bag and measure out a piece of paper to cover the entire front of the bag like shown below.

Attach that piece of paper to the front of the bag, not including the flap part. (The bottom of the bag)

Next, attach his tail on either side of him and the belly piece to the center of the front, where the brown paper is.

Finally, attach the head to the bottom of the paper bag by flattening it and gluing it down.

And that’s it. Your monkey puppet is all finished!

Instructions

  1. Print out the craft template and cut out all the template pieces.
  2. Trace the pieces onto colored craft paper and cut them out.
  3. Assemble the monkeys head by attaching inner ear pieces to outer ear pieces. Glue hair to the top of the monkey's head.
  4. Attach face piece to center of head, then attach eyes and cheeks.
  5. Draw on nose and mouth.
  6. Cut out and attach a piece of paper big enough to cover the front the paper bag.
  7. Attach tail and tummy piece to monkey.
  8. Attach finished head piece to flap of paper bag, finishing your monkey puppet.
  9. Enjoy!
