Are you in search of a creative and simple craft idea that your children will enjoy? Well, how about making an adorable paper bag koala puppet!

This engaging project requires only a few basic supplies and creates a soft and cute koala puppet that will entertain your little ones.

It is an ideal craft activity for a classroom project or a fun indoor activity on a rainy day.

Materials

Colored craft papers: We used grays, white and pink. Instead of colored paper you could also color in the template with colored pencils or crayons.

Paper bag: We used a basic lunch sized paper bag.

Koala puppet template: You can grab the free printable at the end of this post.

You’ll also need some additional craft supplies like:

• Pencil
• Black marker or pen
• Scissors
• Craft glue

How to Make a Paper Bag Koala Puppet

Start by printing out the koala template. Then choose the colored pieces of paper you’ll be using. The template includes shapes for the koala’s head and face, ears, a fur collar and legs.

Cut them out and trace them onto the colored paper, then cut those pieces out.

Start by attaching the inner ear pieces to the outer ears. Then attach the koala’s nose to the center of the head piece.

Attach his eyes and cheeks as well.

Use your black marker or a pen to draw outline on the eyes and create a cute mouth.

Then attach the ears to the top of the Koala’s head.

Next, grab your paper bag and a piece of gray paper. Cut out a piece big enough to cover the front side of the paper bag, like shown below.

Then attach the fur collar to the gray paper and his legs to the bottom of it, like shown below.

Now attach the koala’s body to the front of the paper bag.

Then flatten out the bottom of the bag toward the front side where the body is. Attach the head.

And that’s it. You’re all done creating your koala puppet!
