This free build-a-bat craft template gives kids all the pieces they need to make a friendly paper bat. Print, cut and glue the pieces together for an easy Halloween bat craft at home or in the classroom.

Regular printer paper is easier for younger children to cut. Lightweight cardstock produces a sturdier bat that is better suited to bulletin boards, pretend play or repeated handling.
How to Make the Build-a-Bat Craft

- Print the template: Print the page on regular paper or lightweight cardstock.
- Cut out the pieces: Carefully cut around the outside edge of every bat piece.
- Plan the arrangement: Place the head above the body, position the ears and face pieces, then arrange the arms, wings and tail before adding glue.
- Glue the bat together: Attach the pieces directly to one another or glue them onto a sheet of construction paper.
- Let it dry: Allow the glue to dry before hanging, displaying or playing with the finished bat.
For a preschool bat craft, an adult can pre-cut the pieces and let children focus on matching, arranging and gluing them in place.
