How to Make Your Smore Themed Rice Krispy Treats
First line a baking pan with wax paper. Set this aside, as we’ll be using it a bit later in the recipe.
In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter slowly over medium heat and add in your marshmallows.
Keep stirring your marshmallows into the butter until everything is mixed and melted completely. Keep a close eye to make sure your marshmallow mixture doesn’t burn.
Once your marshmallow mixture is completely melted, remove your pan from heat and add in cocoa powder. Keep mixxing until your cocoa is completed incorporated into your marshmallow mix.
Now you can start folding in your Rice Krispy cereal. Keep folding the cereal until all of the ingredients are well combined.
Once your Rice Krispy treat mixture is finished, start rolling out 2-inch balls. Place each ball gently on the lined baking pan.
Once all of your Rice Krispy mixture is rolled out into your treat balls, you can start working on the Smores toppings.
The easiest way to melt your chocolate chips is in the microwave. Place your chips in a microwave safe bowl and cook for 30-second intervals (stirring in between) until it’s completely melted.
Be careful not to overcook your chocolate, because it’ll start to get stiff and goopy.
Spoon your melted chocolate into a piping bag and drizzle the chocolate over each of your Rice Krispy treat cereal balls.
While your chocolate is still melted, top each of your Rice Krispy treats with some of your marshmallow pieces and the graham cracker crumbs.
Refrigerate your Rice Krispy Balls for at least 15 minutes before serving.
I don’t know about you, but my kids are going to love these things! Plus they are portable and would make an awesome camping party themed snack.
