How to Make The Star Wars Puppet
To make this wookie puppet, start by cutting up your brown construction paper into several 4in by 5in pieces.
You can guestimate the size, as long as all of the pieces are similar.
Cut each of the pieces of construction paper into strips making sure to leave the top ½ inch intact, so that the pieces still stay together, like shown below.
Next, glue the pieces of brown paper to the front of the paper bag.
Start at the bottom and overlap the pieces so they look like fur.
When you get close to the top of your wookie puppet, fold the strips back and glue them down like shown in the photo below.
A few stra “hairs” sticking out is ok, and adds to the Chewbacca, wild wookiee look.
With the black construction paper, cut out a large wookie nose and a belt for Chewbacca about 1 in by 5 inches.
Using the white construction paper, cut out small rectangles roughly 1 inch by ¼ inch to add details to Chewbaccas belt.
Finally, use the red paper to cut out a tounge for your paper bag puppet. (This is our favorite part of the Wookiee puppet!)
Glue on your Wookiee’s nose and a set of googly eyes.
Now open up your Wookiees mouth to glue in the cheeky tongue.
Finally, glue the black strip of paper across your paper puppet diagonally.
Add on the white strips in a double line, to create the details of Chewbacca’s belt.
Allow your Wookiee puppet craft to dry completely before playing with him.
Isn’t he cute! We certainly think so.
Now if only we can get the Chewbacca call down.
