Instructions
Step 1: Start by Preparing Your Pieces
First, choose red, black, or dark grey craft papers for your ladybug. Trace the template patterns for the base, wings, antennae, two small hearts (for the antennae), and the round body piece onto the papers. Then, cut out all the traced shapes carefully.
Step 2: Decorate the Wings
Next, take the wing cutouts and use a black sharpie to draw small heart shapes all over them. This gives the ladybug its signature Valentine’s Day flair!
Step 3: Attach the Body
Then, glue the round body shape to the middle of the larger base piece. This forms the main body of the ladybug.
Step 4: Add the Antenna Hearts
Now, attach the small heart cutouts to the tops of the antenna strips. These add a fun, valentines day touch!
Step 5: Secure the Antennae
Next, glue the antenna strips to the narrow top side of the base piece (this is the ladybug’s head area).
Step 6: Position the First Wing
Take one of the wing cutouts and place it on the wider part of the base, just below the head. Make sure it fits snugly.
Step 7: Add the Second Wing
Now, position the second wing beside the first, overlapping the pointy ends near the top of the base.
Step 8: Attach the Wings
Finally, use a brad pin to secure the wing cutouts to the base. This will allow the wings to move so the message inside can be revealed!
Step 9: Write a Special Message
Write a Valentine’s Day message or a sweet note on the round body shape. Then, close the wings to keep the message a surprise until it’s opened.
