The printable comes in two versions of the same design. The precolored catfish is dark gray with a pale gray underside and a pink mouth. On the coloring version, the large craft pieces are uncolored, while the little completed example is still in color.
The sheet includes a head with mouth and whisker-like details, two eyes, a curved body, and separate fin and tail pieces. Dashed guides mark the outside cutting edges. Each version contains the pieces for one catfish, so choose one version per child.
Materials

How to Make the Catfish Cut and Paste Craft
Start with printing and coloring. Print the version you want. If you chose the coloring sheet, decorate the pieces while they are still on the page. Then cut around the dashed outside guides and keep the small pieces together in a dish or tray.
- Lay the curved body on the table with its pale underside facing the same direction as the small finished example.
- Arrange the long fin piece along the outer curve of the body. Add the smaller fins and the curved tail piece, referring to the corner picture for their positions.
- Place the head over the upper end of the body, keeping the long facial details clear of the pieces underneath. Add the eyes to the face.
- Glue the overlapping edges a little at a time. Use a background sheet to support the narrow pieces if your child finds the loose cutout difficult to handle.
Top Tips
The narrow facial details need more care than the larger body pieces. Leave a small white margin around them or have an adult cut that section. Do not pull the paper through tight curves; turn it gradually as you cut.
Keep the whisker details attached to the head and place that piece safely aside until the body is ready. Support the paper underneath the narrow curves while spreading glue; pressing directly on a loose tip can fold it.
Ways to Use the Finished Craft
Make an underwater picture with blue paper, wavy lines, bubbles, and paper plants. Let your child decide what their catfish sees on its journey and tell a short story about the scene.

Printing Tips
Print in portrait orientation and check the preview before printing. Use “Fit” if any parts are being clipped, and keep the page proportions unchanged. Print a single test sheet before making copies for a group.
Choose color printing for the precolored version. Grayscale works for the coloring version; the small colored example will appear in shades of gray. Use the same print settings for all pieces so they stay in proportion.
