If you love printing out fun printable games like this one often for your kiddos, I also suggest investing in an inexpensive laminator.
I purchased this laminator a couple of years ago and it’s quick and easy to use and works great at keeping the free printables I get in good shape for continued play.
How to Make Your DIY Feed the Shark Game
To make your own feed the shark game start by printing out the sharks and fish from our printable (Grab it at the end of this post) on to the card stock.
If you don’t have card stock you could print out on paper and use a glue stick to reinforce the paper onto thin cardboard.
Cereal boxes work great for this!
Then cut out all of your shark and fish pieces.
Cut the sharks mouth out as well to leave an empty space for the fish to go into.
Make sure to leave the tongue and teeth part of the mouth when cutting.
Now cut each of your empty toilet paper tubes in half like shown below.
Glue one tube to the back of each sharks mouth with your hot glue gun and let dry.
How to Play Feed the Shark
Now the fun part! Playing the shark game.
To set the game up, simply line up all of the colorful sharks in a row.
Spread out your fish on the table color side up.
Have your preschooler feed the sharks fish that match it’s color.
To emphasize the color learning, you can state the colors out loud when you are showing your preschooler (or toddler) how to play.
You can also encourage them to state each color out loud as they feed each shark.
It’s a great way to help them practice their speech skills, color recognition skills and matching and sorting skills.
Aren’t these little guys cute! Im sure your kids will have a blast sorting colors with these sharks.
It’s one of our favorite shark themed learning activities for the younger kids.
