How to Make the Goose Cut and Paste Craft
Start with printing and coloring. Print the version you want. If you chose the coloring sheet, decorate the pieces while they are still on the page. Then cut around the dashed outside guides and keep the small pieces together in a dish or tray.
- Set the body on your work surface with its attached neck pointing upward, matching the small example goose.
- Fit the head at the top of the neck. Position the beak at the front of the face and add the eye.
- Arrange the wing on the side of the body. Position the feet below the body so the goose appears to be standing.
- Glue the overlapping parts in place, checking the neck and head before the glue sets. Let the goose dry flat or attach it directly to background paper.
Top Tips
The neck is easier to position when the body stays flat on the table. Work on a backing sheet if children find the loose pieces slide around. Put the small eye aside before clearing the cutting scraps.
Support the body and its attached neck on a backing sheet as you position the head. Keep the webbed feet together as one piece, and let them extend below the body where they can be seen.
Ways to Use the Finished Craft
Use a few finished geese for a classroom counting line, or let children describe their goose’s journey from the pond to the grass. Pair the craft with a movement break after the table activity.

Printing Tips
Print in portrait orientation and check the preview before printing. Use “Fit” if any parts are being clipped, and keep the page proportions unchanged. Print a single test sheet before making copies for a group.
Choose color printing for the precolored version. Grayscale works for the coloring version; the small colored example will appear in shades of gray. Use the same print settings for all pieces so they stay in proportion.
