What’s Included
The printable comes in two versions of the same design. The precolored frog is bright green with a pale yellow belly and a pink mouth. On the coloring version, the large craft pieces are uncolored, while the little completed example is still in color.
The sheet includes a broad head, separate eyes and smiling mouth, a body with front feet, and pieces for the bent back legs and feet. Dashed guides mark the outside cutting edges. Each version contains the pieces for one frog, so choose one version per child.
Materials
- Frog printable template: Choose the precolored or coloring version.
- White paper or lightweight cardstock: Paper works well on a background; cardstock gives a loose cutout more support.
- Scissors: Use a pair suited to your child’s cutting skills, with adult help for small details.
- Glue stick: Apply small amounts at the joins.

How to Make the Frog Cut and Paste Craft
Start with printing and coloring. Print the version you want. If you chose the coloring sheet, decorate the pieces while they are still on the page. Then cut around the dashed outside guides and keep the small pieces together in a dish or tray.
- Place the body with its front feet pointing down. Arrange the bent back-leg pieces on either side, using the small completed frog as your guide.
- Match the separate back feet to the ends of the legs. Try the arrangement before adding glue, so the frog looks as though it is sitting.
- Overlap the head slightly over the top of the body. Glue the eyes onto the raised areas at the top of the head and add the smiling mouth.
- Glue the joins, working from the pieces at the back toward the face. Leave it flat until dry, then attach it to a lily pad or a background sheet.
Top Tips
Keep the mouth piece flat while gluing so the smile does not crease. The small feet and eyes are good pieces for an adult to prepare if your child is still learning to use scissors.
Set the eyes on the raised areas of the head before attaching the mouth. A slightly different eye position can change the expression, so let children try a few arrangements before sticking them down.
Ways to Use the Finished Craft
Cut a large oval from green paper for a lily pad and let your child choose where the frog will sit. Ask them to finish the sentence, “My frog is going to…” and write their words underneath.

Printing Tips
Print in portrait orientation and check the preview before printing. Use “Fit” if any parts are being clipped, and keep the page proportions unchanged. Print a single test sheet before making copies for a group.
Choose color printing for the precolored version. Grayscale works for the coloring version; the small colored example will appear in shades of gray. Use the same print settings for all pieces so they stay in proportion.
