All About Me Craft Printable (Build a Paper Student)
A favorite food in a big smile, a dream job on a star, and hobbies across a shirt—this All About Me craft printable turns a few facts about your child into a paper student they can color and build.
Kids fill in the prompts, decorate their character, then cut and glue the pieces together. It’s a fun project for the first week of school, a homeschool group, or a keepsake to tuck away and revisit next year.

What’s Included in the Printable?
The four-page PDF is formatted for US Letter paper, 8.5 × 11 inches, in portrait orientation. All four pages are black and white for children to color.
- Page 1: A complete student figure with short hair, a shirt, shorts, and sneakers.
- Page 2: A complete student figure with long hair, a bow, a dress, and shoes.
- Page 3: Separate pieces for the student wearing a dress, plus written assembly directions.
- Page 4: Separate pieces for the student wearing a shirt and shorts, plus written assembly directions.
Use the complete figures as coloring and writing pages or as a guide when arranging the separate pieces. Choose page 3 or 4 for the cut-and-glue craft. Each of those sheets has the pieces needed for one student, so you don’t need to print the whole set for every child.
The All About Me Prompts
The questions are built into the character’s hair, smile, and clothing. Children can add:
- Their name, age, and date of birth.
- Their favorite color and favorite food.
- A pet and a book.
- Their favorite movie and hobbies.
- Something they are good at and a dream job.
Keep the answers short so they fit the spaces. A book title, a pet’s name, or a few words about a hobby is plenty. Children without a pet can write “no pet” or draw an animal they like. “I’m still deciding” works for the dream-job star too.
Materials
- The printable student template.
- US Letter paper or light cardstock.
- Crayons or colored pencils.
- A pencil or pen for the answers.
- Scissors and a glue stick.
- Optional construction paper for a backing sheet.
Colored pencils make it easier to keep the small writing areas readable. For a classroom group, put each child’s cut pieces on a tray or in an envelope until everyone is ready to glue.
How to Make the All About Me Student Craft
- Choose and print a page. Select the character your child wants to make. Print the matching complete figure as a reference if helpful, or show it on screen. Check the print preview so none of the pieces are clipped.
- Talk through the prompts. Read the labels together and let your child decide what they want to share. Younger children can dictate their answers for an adult to write.
- Color and fill in the answers. Work while the page is still flat. Use light colors behind the writing, and let children choose the skin, hair, and clothing colors they like.
- Cut out the pieces. Cut around the outside of the head, body, arms, and shoes. The shirt-and-shorts version has separate shorts to cut out too. Keep the writing sections, pocket, and star attached to the clothing; they are not separate craft pieces.
- Arrange the student. Place the head above the clothing, the arms beside the sleeves, and the shoes below. For the shorts version, position the shorts beneath the shirt. Check the complete figure to see how the parts overlap.
- Glue everything together. Overlap the connecting edges slightly, keeping the answers visible. Tuck the tops of the arms behind the sleeves and the shoe tabs behind the lower clothing. Press the joins flat and allow them to dry.
- Share or display. Leave the finished figure as a cutout, or glue it onto a larger backing sheet. Invite your child to pick a favorite detail to tell you about.
Ways to Use the Finished Craft
- Partner introductions: Pair children up and have each share two answers from their figure. They can introduce their partner by saying, “This is Sam, and Sam likes drawing.” Let children choose which details to share.
- A class full of personalities: Arrange the students on a bulletin board under a title such as “Meet Our Class.” Invite children to notice shared interests and something new they learned about a classmate.
- Beginning-and-end-of-year keepsakes: Make the craft early in the school year and repeat it later. Compare favorite foods, books, hobbies, and the skills children feel proud of.
- Homeschool family gallery: Make one figure for each child and let siblings interview each other. Add a separate dated note about something they are looking forward to learning.

Tips for Different Ages
For younger children, use a complete figure page or help cut out the separate pieces. They can draw a tiny picture in place of a written answer or tell you what to write. You can also do the coloring one day and the assembly the next.
Older children can explain one answer on the backing sheet: why they love a particular book, how they practice a hobby, or what interests them about their dream job. Keep the extra writing off the small template sections so the figure stays easy to read.
Printing Tips
Print only the pages you plan to use, single-sided in portrait orientation. Regular paper works well when the student will be glued onto a backing sheet. Light cardstock is a useful choice for a separate cutout, provided it is suitable for your printer. Use the same print scale for the pieces on each craft page.
