Playing the letter game is an old favorite of mine. It was a family tradition on each and every road trip.

And as a military brat, there were tons of road trips. So this alphabet game is a little near and dear to my heart.

Our favorite version centered on food of course!

And finding foods that started with the letter I was always the hardest. So here is a list of foods that begin with I.

Some of these are popular foods, while others are more obscure.

Here is a list of all the foods I could find that started with the letter I. It’s more difficult than you’d think.

Ice

Ice is a substance that’s usually made out of water and air. It’s frozen and it can also melt into liquid again.

Most people think that the word “ice” is only referring to the solid state of water, but this isn’t true.

In fact, if you want to be very specific, ice refers to any type of natural event that occurs in which water in its liquid form becomes solid.

Air has been added into the mixture to cause freezing.

Iceberg lettuce

Iceberg lettuce is a popular lettuce variety that originated in the United States and is named for its crisp head that can range from pale yellow to deep green color.

This shredded, long-stemmed lettuce has a delicate texture and flavor that also makes it attractive for use in salads.

It will stay crispy even when tossed with oil-based salad dressing.

Ice Pops

Ice Pops are frozen treat consisting of a fruit or liquid. You’ve probably had them as a kid. They are a summer time favorite.

Ice Cream Cake

An ice cream cake is a dessert that’s made by layering a cake with ice cream and toppings.

It’s a wonderfully decadent way to celebrate any occasion, whether it be an anniversary, birthday, or just because.

The best way to make this treat is by using a chocolate cake and vanilla frosting for the base layer.

Instant Coffee

Inca Berries

Inca berries are delicious fruits that resemble blueberries and are a staple in the Andean region. They have a sweet and tangy taste that most people find appealing. The fruit is mostly eaten raw, but it can also be used in drinks and desserts.

Indian mustard

Of course, you there are a few loop holes.

You can throw the word Italian or Indian in front of lots of food words and get quite a few uses from them.
